GRAND FINALIST OF THE WORLD - SOLO VOCAL
Celebrating its thirteenth year, the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood, California, the only official "Talent Olympics" for performing artists, expands in 2009 to create a system of competitions designed to provide invaluable experience and exposure for achieving artists around the world, including our very own MAYUMI MORALES.
WCOPA contestants, like MAYUMI MORALES, must be qualified and invited by
Scouts and licensed National Directors in order to participate in the World system of
competitions. The "Juniors" are ages 15 and under, and "Seniors" are ages 16 and over.
Contestants from over 40 countries compete for medals, world champion plaques, and Grand Champion of the World titles in dance, vocal, modeling, acting, comedy, instrumental and variety (various ages, females and males, individuals and groups). The finals spotlight a competition unrivaled in the history of performing arts to celebrate… "The Champions of the World"!
Agents, producers, directors and others from Hollywood and Broadway entertainment industries are invited to judge, and screen new faces and talent! Special emphasis is placed on entertainment value during judging.
However, this in no way takes away from the technical aspect of the performances. Judges are looking for that special charisma and marketability that major entertainers have. Past celebrity guests include Debbie Allen, Pauly Shore and legendary Hollywood manager and discoverer of “superstars”, Jay Bernstein.
Since the Philippines joined this global competition four years ago, we have been able to produce five legitimate Grand Champions of the World, Jed Madela (solo vocalist) in 2005, the Cercado Sisters (group vocalists) in 2006, Reymond Sajor (solo vocalist) and Aria Clemente (solo vocalist) in 2007, and Catherine Loria (solo vocalist) in 2008. Countless Filipino contestants also received special awards (bronze, silver and gold medals) in various competition categories in the elimination rounds during these years.
In light of these, it is then encouraged that every contestant would look for sponsors from their respective countries that will pay for his/her stint in the WCOPA, such as US Visa application fee, registration fee, airfare, hotel, meals, administration, marketing, training and publicity expenses at WCOPA from July 11 to 19, 2009. Expected expenditure by now would sum up to around USD 5,000++ per delegate.

WCOPA Team Philippines, courtesy of Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, has allocated a fund in the amount of USD 1,571 that will subsidize MS. MORALES’ board & lodging for eight (8) days and registration fee for two (2) styles only. Thus, MS. MORALES would be in need of a sponsor for the remaining amount of around USD 3,000++. We earnestly pray that we can get your pledge as one of our sponsors on this important endeavor.
